Sox Faustoed

Josh Beckett was on his game Wednesday night. Eight innings, four hits allowed, one solo HR. The rest of the Sox, not so much. The Sox offense was silenced by Fausto Carmona (Yes, THE Fausto Carmona), and Beckett fell to 13-4 for the season in a 1-0 loss. Carmona improved his record to 13-4 (3.31 ERA), and it appears quite possible that the Sox no longer own him.
A strong pre-game show seemed to point towards success for the Sox, but they were unable to perform at the same high level as Caron, Benjamin, and Cervasio. If the Friendly's Scoop had been updated in a more timely manner, perhaps Beckett would have fourteen wins right now. There were some other factors: a botched hit and run, some questionable umpiring, Coco and Manny both going on their paid break periods (as provided by the Ohio Board of Labor) at the same time, and excessive Foxwoods commercials. But it was the lack of a new Friendly's Scoop that proved too much for the Sox bats to overcome.

It could be a tough one tonight. There is still no new Friendly's Scoop. There were two glaring errors in the pre-game. In the Uno Chicago Grill Red Sox Insider Report, Amalie Benjamin, when speaking about recent Pawtucket pickup OF Brady Clark, gave the wrong date for his DFA'ing by the Dodgers. In the MBTA MLB Notebook, Nick Cafardo mispronounced Phillies LF Pat Burrell's surname. This is a lot to overcome, but with Not Jason, refreshed from his pre-game nap on the mound, the Sox have a chance. And if NESN shows this commercial more times than that damn Foxwoods one, the Indians have no chance.
